2. The ASP’s mission
is to create an on-line service center that offers a new
way to access software. With this model a company’s
applications are hosted, upgraded, and managed by a third
company (ASP) instead of in-house.
3. An ASP offers its customers
and subscribers a managed service in exchange for a monthly
fee. It is the pay-per-view concept applied to applications/software.
4. Applications and data
are hosted, upgraded, and managed in the ASP´s Data
Center, instead of being hosted in the company’s
servers.
5. Requirements are minimal:
a telephone line and a PC with basic requirements and
we are ready to start.
6. Customers can access
the application and data from any place in the office,
home, or even from the road or plane, as long as they
have access to the Internet.
7. There are two types
of technology: One is Web Enabled, which allows a traditional
application running in a server to be accessed using a
browser from a local network and the other is through
Internet access.
